Valentina DuBasky (b. 1951) is originally from Washington, D.C. and earned her B.F.A. as well as her M.F.A. from Goddard College in Vermont. Her art consists of multiple media, including paintings and works on paper, all drawing inspiration from her travels throughout Central and Southeast Asia and often portraying birds, horses, flora, and other natural elements. Through her art, DuBasky studies the juxtapositions between the places and times in which their ancient works were created and those of her own place and time, living and working in 21st century New York City. DuBasky’s paintings and prints have been included in over 160 exhibitions nationally and internationally with articles and reviews in both the fine arts press and the major media include Artforum, Art In America, ArtNews, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Art & Antiques, New York Art Review, the Print Collector’s Newsletter, and Luxe Magazine.
