Printmaking Workshop: Letterpress Printing with Photopolymer Plates

Join Master Printer & Studio Manager Jason Ruhl and Education Program Coordinator Rachael Griffin at Tandem Press for a special two-day course that provides an introduction to letterpress printing on a Vandercook press using photopolymer plates. Participants will be shown finished artworks that have employed this technique to help generate ideas for their own images and will learn how to mix inks, make photopolymer plates, and set up a Vandercook press for printing. Participants will be expected to clean up after themselves and also assist in duties common to the class as a whole. No previous letterpress experience is required. The class will be limited to 10 participants. Must be 18 or older to enroll.

When: Saturday, July 28 & Sunday, July 29, 10am-5pm

Where: Tandem Press, 1743 Commercial Avenue, Madison, WI 53704

Cost: $300 (includes photopolymer plates, paper, and ink for printing). Participants must provide an image(s) to work from.
