Judy Pfaff: New Prints
January 26 – February 24, 2018
Tandem Press Apex Gallery, 1743 Commercial Avenue, Madison, WI 53704

Judy Pfaff, …fortunate fish…, 2017. Woodcut, hand painted dye, archival inkjet, varied edition of 12. 49 1/4 x 105 in. $17,000 framed.

Pfaff first came to Tandem to create prints in 1992. She has returned multiple times over the years since her first visit and has created over 100 editions with our studio to date. Her newest body of work was inspired by a trip to India, where she was captivated by the bright colors and patterns she saw throughout various marketplaces during her visit. In particular, she was inspired by the vivid textiles she encountered. Using these and the natural world for inspiration, Pfaff completed eleven new editions in our studio during a visit last February. Many of the editions are multilayered and include multiple printmaking methods, hand painting, and applied colored silver leaf. The resulting editions are a celebration of color and movement, and are wonderful examples of Pfaff’s exceptional creativity and ability to push the boundaries of contemporary printmaking.
