Tandem Press demonstrates its commitment to printmaking and education through its myriad of outreach efforts, both locally and nationwide.
Tandem is active within the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the greater Madison area, and throughout the state of Wisconsin. It welcomes over 1,500 visitors to its studio and gallery every year. Ongoing programming that takes place at the Press includes gallery openings and exhibitions, printmaking demonstrations and workshops, open houses, and tours. Tandem also presents visiting artist lectures on the UW-Madison campus. Events are attended by members of the general public as well as UW-Madison faculty, staff, and students.
Tandem collaborates with many departments and programs at UW-Madison each year, such as the Art Department, the Bolz Center for Arts Administration, the School of Human Ecology, and the Chazen Museum of Art. Since 2014, Tandem has hosted a regular Friday Jazz Series in collaboration with the Jazz Studies Program in the Mead-Witter School of Music.
Tandem Press regularly loans its prints for exhibitions at established art museums and leading art galleries around the country. A selection of prints have also been placed on permanent loan to the Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin. In addition, Tandem coordinates the exhibitions at the airport’s Art Court, working with groups throughout Dane County to present exhibitions that residents and visitors would not normally have an opportunity to see.
On a national level, Tandem participates in numerous annual art fairs around the country. The fairs are a crucial part of Tandem’s outreach efforts because they provide an opportunity for staff to further educate the public about fine art printmaking and to engage with new and existing supporters. Tandem has recently participated in The Armory Show, Expo Chicago, IFPDA Fine Art Print Fair, Ink Miami Art Fair, McNay Print Fair, Art on Paper Fair, Art Market San Francisco Art Fair, Seattle Art Fair, Cleveland Print Fair, and Figge Art Museum Print Fair.
