Maser
Alan Hester (b. 1981, Dublin, Ireland) started his art career in 1995 under the moniker Maser by painting graffiti on the streets of Dublin, where he soon earned the respect of other graffiti artists in Ireland and throughout Europe for his unique abstract style. After studying Visual Communication Arts in Dublin, he went on to establish himself as one of Ireland’s leading visual artists working in the urban environment. Typography, letterforms, and sign painting strongly influenced his early work, but his style has gradually transitioned towards graphic representation and geometric abstraction. His style is unassuming and emphasizes the simplicity of form, while his bright color palette and energetic compositions excite and capture the eye. Maser has painted murals in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Uganda, and the United States. He began complimenting his large-scale murals and public artworks in recent years by creating prints, works on paper, and paintings on canvas. These works have been featured in exhibitions at Graphic Studio Gallery in Dublin, Lazarides Gallery in London, the Palais de Tokyo Gallery in Paris, and the National Gallery of Ireland. In 2018, he founded Atelier Now, a public gallery and creative studio in Dublin. Maser lives and works in Dublin, Ireland.
