Mickett/Stackhouse

Mickett/Stackhouse (b. 1952, b. 1942) is the collaborative team of Carol Mickett and Robert Stackhouse. Their work combines Mickett’s background in philosophy and artistic theories from performance, such as theater and radio, with Stackhouse’s multimedia fine arts background. Their works include sculptural installations, paintings, and prints that contrast more rigid architectural structures or textures with softer lines or colors. The public commissions completed by the duo often actively involve the surrounding community through participation in the work’s construction and performance. Along with their various residencies, lectures, corresponding publications, and awards, Mickett/Stackhouse have exhibited extensively across the United States. Their collaborative works are included in several prestigious collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, The National Gallery of Australia, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Hunter Museum of American Art, and the City of Takamatsu in Japan.
