Santi Moix

Santi Moix (b. 1960) was born in Barcelona. He works in a vein that recalls the styles of some of history’s other great Spanish artists such as Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró. He mines literature and art history for scenes that provide points of departure for his fantastical abstractions. He has created work in a wide variety of media, though he is known primarily as a printmaker and painter. He was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowship in 2002. He achieved international recognition in 2013 when Prada commissioned a large mural for their Soho store in New York. Moix currently lives and works in New York City, although he frequently returns to Barcelona for visits.
