Manabu Ikeda came to Madison in the summer of 2013 to begin an extended residency at the Chazen Museum of Art. The residency was intended to support Ikeda as he created a new monumental artwork which came to be titled Rebirth. On the days he did not spend working in his studio at the Chazen Museum or with his growing family, Ikeda came to our studio at Tandem Press to learn how to create prints, specifically etchings.
To commemorate the completion of this work, 3 1/2 years in the making, Colossal wrote a feature article on Ikeda and the time intensive process it took him to create the 13 x 10 foot drawing Rebirth. Click here to read the article and learn more about Manabu Ikeda’s work.
