Presented by the Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg:

On October 15, 2020, contemporary artist Derrick Adams, historian and author Dr. Gretchen Sorin, and photographer and author Cynthia Wilson-Graham joined in a lively discussion about the power, pleasure and struggle for Black leisure and travel during the segregation era. Sorin is the author of “Driving While Black: African American Travel and the Road to Civil Rights,” and co-director of the new, critically-acclaimed PBS documentary based on her book. Wilson-Graham is co-author of “Remembering Paradise Park: Tourism and Segregation in Silver Springs.” The discussion was moderated by MFA Curator of Contemporary Art Katherine Pill and presented in conjunction with the special exhibition “Derrick Adams: Buoyant” (on view at the MFA St. Petersburg September 12 through November 29, 2020)
